5th CORHA annual SRHR Conference held

Nothing is more affected than the health system of the developing countries by the stop work order of the United States Government. Though it has been a few weeks since then, there are already too many reports and Articles that show the negative effect of funding cuts on the health system especially on Sexual and Reproductive Health. Furthermore, European countries like France and the Netherlands announced budget reductions to official development aid will hamper SRHR programs and outcomes. Following this, Under the Theme of “From Global to local focus on SRHR” The 5th annual CORHA SRHR Conference which was Held on March 6 at Ethiopian Skylight Hotel focuses on the Impact of the policy change and budget reductions to foreign assistance and development aid, the triple (development, health and Peace) nexus as well SGD Perspectives, Health Equity, and inclusivity in Ethiopia.

Consultative workshop on SRH service Gaps held

CORHA in partnership with the financial support of the GIDABO policy advocacy center started implementing a project called " Enhance equity and sustainability for SRH services in Low-performing regions." the project aims to improve SRH equity gaps and contribute to the achievement of the goals of the National Health Equity strategic plan (2021-2025), National RH strategy (2021-2025) and the government's commitments to UHC 2030. With the attendance of the regional health bureau representatives, the Federal Ministry of Health MNCH Department heads and experts as well as representatives of Local and international Civil Societies the consultation workshop was an opportunity to introduce the project for implementation regions and governmental and non-governmental concerned bodies and to discuss on the gaps and status of the project implementation areas.

The World Contraception Day Celebrated.

Under a national theme of “I have responsibility to improve access for quality family planning service” the ninth World Contraception Day was celebrated at Jigjiga City, the capital city of the Somali region. Ministry of Health, Ethiopia in collaboration with CORHA and other partners organized the celebration event. As mentioned by presenters and key note speakers the region has a very low performance regarding contraception use. The regional health office head admitted the reports and show how the regional government and other partners are committed and working very hard to change the situation,that was also the main reason for the celebration to be held at Jigjiga City. Mr Abebe Kebede , Executive Director of CORHA on his key note address calls up on every government stakeholders and partners working on mothers and child health to strengthen their efforts to make difference in short period of time. Higher officials from the Federal Ministry of Health, Regional health offices representatives from all regional offices, Representatives from the regional government stakeholder offices, UN agencies and local non-governmental office representatives as well as community members attended the celebration event.

International Youth Day

CORHA celebrated International Youth Day with the Ministry of Women and Social Affairs. Under the theme of “Youth for Digital Transformation” International Youth Day is celebrated in the presence of Youth from every corner of the country and different life backgrounds, government higher officials including the minister of women and social affairs, as well as representatives of local and international civil society organizations. CORHA was among the organizers of this event and got the opportunity to showcase “Yenetab”, a mobile application for youth on reproductive health and life skills as well as other knowledge products.

Civil Society Coordinating Group (CSCG) held its Annual Workshop in Nairobi, Kenya.

On November 26-27, the Civil Society Coordinating Group (CSCG) held its Annual Workshop in Nairobi, Kenya. The event brought together 120 in-person and virtual civil society and youth representatives from 34 Global Financing Facility (GFF) partners, donors, and target countries. Attendees participated in two days of exercises, panels, and discussions to highlight successes, share lessons learned, and identify challenges. This year's workshop and discussions focused on CSCG priority actions to #DeliverTheFuture in matters of accountability, health financing, and country engagement, including gender equality and social inclusion.

Review meeting focusing on the volunteer’s psychosocial support services held

Through UNFPA Ethiopia support, CORHA in partnership with Ask Us organize a review meeting focusing on the volunteer’s psychosocial support services program in Addis Ababa. The review meeting aimed to discuss on the current status of psychosocial support services provided by volunteers, discuss the challenges faced and successes achieved over the last quarter, Share best practices and innovative approaches in psychosocial support, as well as Plan and strategize for the upcoming quarter to enhance the support provided to high HIV caseload health facilities. A total of 40 participants including Representatives from Addis Ababa regional Health Bureau, Health Facilities ART Focal persons, UN agencies, partner organization representatives and young volunteers attend the review meeting.

CORHA has organized a dissemination workshop of Studies on Health Financing in Ethiopia

CORHA has organized a dissemination workshop of Studies on Health Financing in Ethiopia, on the 29th of August 2023 at the Inter-luxury Hotel; during the workshop, two studies on financing in the health sector have been presented. The first study was undertaken by Development Initiatives (DI’s) the study examined national ownership and aid alignment in the health sector, specifically for the sexual reproductive health and maternal, newborn, and child health (MNCH) program. The second study has been conducted by the Consortium of Reproductive Health Associations (CORHA) in collaboration with WEMOS on the implementation of the Global Financing Facility (GFF) investment in Ethiopia. More than 30 individuals representing different organizations Participated in the workshop.
